The opening ceremony of the Dem Training Center was held on June 17, in the Kyzyl-Suu village, Jety-Oguz district of Issyk-Kul region. The building of the future public library was repaired by local entrepreneurs and Kyrgyz citizens working abroad. Kumtor Gold Company CJSC (KGC) provided $13,000 to purchase furniture, office equipment, and some construction materials to complete the finishing work.
The Dem project was initially successfully implemented by the initiative youth in Karakol, the central city of the region. The main goal is to develop a culture of reading through modern forms of interaction.
The organizers expect that the center in Kyzyl-Suu will become a place of interest for young people from all the surrounding villages. New center will become a place that will host seminars and master classes, book contests, book discussions, chess tournaments, music and movie nights, an English language club, tea parties, and meetings with successful people.
