THE FIRST “CORPORATE DIRECTOR” PROGRAMME IS COMPLETED IN KR

The Chamber of Independent Directors (CID) in partnership with the International Financial Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, successfully complete the first modular certification programme “Corporate Director” in the Kyrgyz Republic. The Programme’s objective is to enhance the professional level of board members and top management in introducing the best international practices of corporate governance. This is announced by the press-service of the CID.

The certification programme consists of 5 modules and covers a wide range of topics starting from the fundamentals of corporate governance, strategic role of the board of directors in finance management, risk management, ensuring effective internal controls, leadership and human resources management.

“The course syllabus was very intense, packed with relevant international practices and real examples from various sectors. Our company delegated three members of the board with a view to improve their qualifications and update knowledge in the area of international corporate governance. We recommend this programme to acting board members and those who want to become one”, said Mr. Bolotbek Idirisov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kumtor Gold Company.

The methodology and materials of the innovative course were developed as part of the IFC regional programme for the development of environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices in Europe and Central Asia, which is funded by the Government of Switzerland and State Secretariat of Switzerland for Economic Affairs (SECO).

During the training, international experts used interactive methods including group and individual business exercises, along with analysis of practical business cases. The trainers shared theoretical knowledge and examples from overseas countries on how to apply best international practices in corporate governance.

To celebrate successful completion of the programme, the first alumni of 16 corporate directors, company owners and top managers were awarded certificates by the Chamber of Independent Directors.
