Today, on December 6, 2011, the operation of Marshaling Yard of Kumtor Operating Company in Balykchy, Issyk-Kul region, was restored. The protesters stopped their action.
Yesterday the governor of Issyk-Kul region and representatives of Kumtor Operating Company, met with the protesters in Balykchy. The Governor and the Company representatives explained the importance of maintaining a stable operation of the company for the region and the Kyrgyz Republic. They also reminded the participants of the company’s contributions to the region and in particular in Balykchy, and informed about Kumtor’s plans that had already been agreed to further assist the community. Following the meeting, the protesters agreed to stop blocking the Marshaling Yard of the Company.
This morning company began supplying all necessary materials to the mine.
