“We are thankful to our general sponsor, Kumtor Company, for supporting this traditional annual tournament. A few years ago, the Company helped purchase a tatami, a special coverage used during training and competitions. We’re delighted that the company gives attention to the development of sports in our region and, hopefully, our joint effort will promote a love for sports and healthy life-styles among young people,” said Bakytbek Kadyraliyev, the organizer and head of the Khidayat club.
The team of the host party, Khidayat, came in third. The team from the city of Taraza, Kazakhstan were second while the Bishkek team of the Olympic Reserve sports school won the lead.
The Tournament’s prize fund was more than 300,000 soms. The winners were given diplomas, certificates and medals as well as cell phones as prizes. This annual tournament is dedicated to the memory of Janek Baatyr, a mighty and invincible warrior born in the village of Tosor, Issyk-Kul Province. This year’s Tournament marks the 200th anniversary of his birth.
