Kumtor is one of the highest gold deposits in the world. It is located in the eastern part of the Mid-Tan Shan at an altitude of over 4,000 meters above sea level, in the permafrost zone. The deposit is located in Issyk-Kul region 350 km from the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic – Bishkek.
Drilling of the deposit is carried out openly with the use of conventional methods of drilling, blasting, loading and transportation. The ore is delivered to the crusher and further to the factory, where the ore is grinded and gold is extracted using the technology «carbon in solution».
