The “Happy Childhood – Safe Childhood” project was launched in the Issyk-Kul region to prevent violence, delinquency and suicide among teenagers.

The Kumtor Gold Company CJSC (KGC) will support the renovation of the premises and sports facilities of the “Kuluk” specialized children and youth school of the Olympic reserve .

After the transfer of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC (KGC) to Kyrgyzstan, support for educational projects has become one of the most important areas of the company’s social responsibility.

Since 2020, the Public Fund “Insan Generation” has been implementing a project retraining workers of sewing industry and improving their working conditions in Ton and Jety-Ogus districts, Issyk-Kul province, with the support of Kumtor Gold Company. KGC contributed more than 8.2 million soms in financial aid for this project.

Kumtor awarded 5 million soms in financial aid to implement a project encouraging Jety-Oguz farmers to grow wheat. These funds were used to purchase 170 tonnes of winter wheat seeds (Bezostaya primary seeds). As a result, the seeds were distributed to a total of 34 groups, 5 to 10 farmers in each, in each of 19 villages of Jety-Oguz district. The seeds return terms are based on the ratio of 1 to 1.5. For example, if you borrowed 1 tonne you are expected to return 1.5 tonnes. Having received the seeds, the farmers sowed nearly 570 hectares of arable land.

As disclosed in January 2021, a waste sorting plant has been put into operation in the city of Balykchi largely due to the support of Kumtor Gold Company which contributed approximately 5.5 million soms for purchasing waste sorting equipment from Russia. The project is implemented by Improvement and Sanitation, the municipal service operating at the Balykchi city administration.

A demonstration pheasant yard was organized in the village of Barskoon, Issyk-Kul province last summer. The project was launched by Central Asia Prospects non-government fund and is supported by Kumtor Gold Company. Its budget is 3.84 million soms.

A waste sorting plant started working in Balykchy of Issyk-Kul region thanks to Kumtor Gold Company. The official opening took place on New Year’s eve.

Municipal authorities of Balykchy, Issyk-Kul region, are currently preparing working sites and assembling the waste sorting equipment at the municipal waste landfill. The project was initiated in 2019 by Balykchy Town Hall Administration and approved by KGC Regional Committee.

As part of the cooperation program for the Issyk-Kul region, Kumtor has supported a seed farming project in Jety-Oguz district, Issyk-Kul province developed by the Regional Development Agency Public Fund. Its budget is 5 million soms.

Kumtor Gold Company CJSC supported the implementation of the project “Popularization of Energy Efficient Construction in the Region”. The project is implemented by the Public Association “Seico”. The project budget is US $ 130,000.

Kumtor Gold Company provided support to the project “Job creation through opening and development of mini sustainable sewing shops in the region” being implemented by “Insan Generation” Public Foundation. The project budget is USD 118,000.
